Today’s feature is on the fabulous Lyndsay Peters (AKA @GeekyLyndsay), who creates the awesome that is Dragon Chow Dice Bags. Lyndsay is a talented geek girl that I met over geeky conversations and talks of a place we both called home – Calgary, AB Canada. I no longer call Calgary home, but a great byproduct of being friends with Lyndsay is that I feel like I’m still linked because we regularly connect over shared experiences of living in the city.
Lyndsay makes a wide variety of fantastic flat-bottomed drawstring dice bags perfect for your D&D or other other tabletop roleplaying adventures. Her designs are unique and fully reversible! Lyndsay created the pattern for the bags herself and makes each one in her home studio by hand. I love her taste in colorful, fun fabric choices. The best part is that Lyndsay happily takes on custom orders, because she understands the importance of having just the right dice bag for your gaming needs. One of the things that I love so much about Lyndsay’s work is that she sets out to create dice bags to match your character, dice set, or the personality you want to associate with your character to help you, the gamer, have the most perfect and immersive gaming experience possible. Lyndsay’s design came about to fix a common problem in her own gaming experiences; the need for a bag that would sit up on its own and secure her dice when open instead of toppling over during game play.

INSPIRATION: I am an avid D&D player, and I commonly play my campaigns long enough that it would take well over half an hour to explain to outsiders what is going on in my game. I get into my games, and I get into my characters. When I’m playing D&D, I feel like I’m wearing their skin and thinking their thoughts.
When I play D&D, I want to be able to show that. I often buy a set of dice to match my character, and I’d try looking for a dice bag to match but I had a lot of trouble finding anything nice. The bags I could find had patterns I didn’t like, or were poorly designed and made from poor materials. That’s where my sewing machine comes in!
Dragon Chow Dice Bags is built on the idea that gamers love their characters, and love their games, and deserve high-quality gaming accessories. I make dice bags that have a flat bottom design, allowing them to stand on the table while you’re gaming. I’ve seen too many dice spills to use anything else now – these dice bags are hardly tippy. I also designed them to be fully reversible. There are no visible closing seams on my bags, only a reversible product with a lined drawstring casing. All of my dice bags have drawstring closures.
What I’ve found is that a lot of other gamers think the way I do. I’ve had many custom requests in my shop, and I just love getting them. I’ve searched for perfect fabrics, adjusted sizes and made matching sets for gamers I’ve met online, and when I get their e-mails I can tell they’re excited to get a dice bag that will perfectly match the character they’re playing – the character whose skin they’re living in when they game. And I think it is totally awesome that I get to help gamers keep their dice safe and express their personality – or their character’s personality – with a dice bag made just for them.
HISTORY: My mother had a very simple philosophy, a statement I would often hear at the store:
“I could make that, and make it better!”
And she would. Be it bandsaw, hot glue, acrylic paint, carpentry, a sewing machine or a meal, my mom takes a crack at doing almost anything. She loves painting, sewing and scrapbooking the most for now – but no craft is too big to tackle for mom, and when I was a kid I would always be there to help.
As I grew up, I would try my hand at crafts my mom hadn’t tried yet. I silkscreened (geeky) t-shirts for awhile by hand-painting my own stencils. When one of my co-workers was pregnant, I decided to make her a quilt and I grabbed a sewing machine off of craigslist. The quilt turned out great, but I didn’t have time to devote myself to crafting.
Dragon Chow Dice Bags came out of illness. I was unable to work because of a heart condition, and had very unpredictable energy levels. I was sitting around all day and doing very little when I remembered the sewing machine in my basement! I dragged it upstairs and started making purses and wallets. They were nice enough, and I still do make them, but when I was looking for dice bags online the same mantra kept going through my head: “I could make that, and make it better!”
I cut out some squares of fabric, did a few experiments, tweaked the design (my initial design, the beta style, is still for sale in my shop – but I really recommend the full release version!) and I ended up with the product I make now.
My sewing machine has been moved back into my basement where I have my small sewing room, often referred to as “the basement dungeon” on twitter. I make all of my dice bags myself, by hand. I’ve had my heart condition fixed, which just means I have more energy for Dragon Chow Dice Bags! All of the players at my gaming table use them, and I am proud of the dice bags I make.
Don’t let her fool you, though, because Lyndsay makes more than just dice bags of awesome… you can also find her making purses, wallets and more in her other shop, Mousch! Be sure to check her out there, too!
Thanks, Lyndsay, for contributing to G33Kmade! We’re proud to have you here as a featured artist. Now go get your own slice of dice bag perfection at Dragon Chow Dice Bags!

excellent feature! Not only does Lyndsay make great stuff, but she is also a riot
It’s true! She’s fantastic and I really love that when she didn’t have a bag that suited her needs she designed one of her own. Mix that with her eye for design and detail and you have something truly epic and awesome. <3 Lyndsay!
