When I made the list of things necessary to my Number Six red dress costume, the bracelet was at the top.  It is part of the outfit, as is the silver ring.  I spent more than a couple of hours scouring the internet looking for a replica or a source.  Another person who pulled together a Six costume found a fabulous bracelet at a store in Canada but didn’t seem willing to divulge the store name or the designer.

The only option left was to make one.  Obviously.  I asked my propmaker boyfriend for assistance.  In case anyone else has struggled to find this bracelets, here’s a rough how-to.  After gathering reference photos (which I kept a set of here), we drew out the shapes on cardstock.  Then we gathered the following materials:

Hello. I am Phineas Javier Delgado… and I am a geek. As the author of “How Science Fiction Failed Us” (which can be read at Geek Shui Living… shameless plug, I know), I began to meet a lot of new people within the “geek” community on Twitter. Previously, I had limited my follows on Twitter to friend, friends of friends, and the odd celebrity here and there (generally only those I truly admired, or didn’t constantly self-promote). During the time that I started gathering a new group of friends, I stumbled upon Kylee and Lesley, and since then we’ve created what can only be called an indestructible mutual admiration circle. Fandom doesn’t quite describe the level of appreciation we seem to have for one another and our respective crafts. Of course, I’m the new guy here, without much history within our circle, they always make me feel welcome and admired. So when Kylee asked me to write something specifically for this site, I couldn’t say “no”. In fact, as I recall, I couldn’t type “of course” quickly enough and it came out something like “ofcour”. Kylee wanted me to write something that would connect the worlds of crafting and… well geeking, perhaps to help add some geek cred to the G33kmade project. Let’s see what I can come up with on the fly…
